I think the study of English is important because it encompasses the research process, trusting information, deciphering facts and opinions, understanding vocabulary, and much more. The study of texts and their meaning has become of greater importance with the way that information travels through online social media platforms and increasing online journalism. It is important to understanding the meaning of our language because the way we connect with each other is vital to our progress as a society.
